For a second time, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort failed in convincing a judge to throw out evidence from a July 2017 Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his home.

"On the monitored prison phone calls, Manafort has mentioned that he is being treated like a 'VIP, '" prosecutors quoted him as having said.

He's even got his own "private, self-contained living unit, which is larger than other inmates' units", the filing says.

In a D.C. court filing in which he described his jailing, Manafort had said he is kept in solitary confinement 23 hours a day.

Manafort has mounted an aggressive defense against the special counsel, arguing that Mueller's mandate was too broad and that he was not authorized to charge Manafort with crimes unrelated to Russian collusion.

A federal judge in Alexandria, Virginia, has ordered Paul Manafort moved to that city's jail to prepare for his upcoming trial on bank and tax fraud charges. Manafort's lawyers said he had "very limited access to his attorneys and the records".

Anderson, meanwhile, is coming off a four-set win over Gael Monfils that saw three of those sets go to a tiebreaker. It snapped an 85-match run of holds by the Swiss but he did not flinch, hitting back to take the set on a tiebreak.

Prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday opposing a continuance requested by Manafort's attorneys, one day after defense lawyers unexpectedly asked the court to keep their client at the Virginia jail where he's now being held, reported NPR.

Judge Ellis ordered U.S. Marshals to move Manafort "promptly", though no specific timeline for the move was immediately known. They made clear they were not monitoring what was discussed in his calls with lawyers, but rather relying on a prison telephone log to note which calls were taking place. He sends and receives emails by reading and writing them on a laptop his attorneys bring in and out of the jail when they meet.

Manafort's previous bail agreement had allowed him to remain at his tony Alexandria, Va., condo with a Global Positioning System ankle monitor. Manafort is incarcerated in Virginia, and he recently asked the court to push back the latter trial date, arguing that the circumstances of his incarceration mean he won't be ready for the trial in time.

Manafort told his listener to "think about how it'll play elsewhere". "There is a strategy to it, even in failure, but there's a hope in it". He has not ruled on whether the trial should be delayed or moved to another location.

On Tuesday, District Judge T.S. Ellis III, who is overseeing Mr. Manafort's Virginia trial moved him to an Alexandria jail so he can have easier access to his legal team.

"It is surprising and confusing when counsel identifies a problem and then opposes the most logical solution to that problem", Ellis wrote.
