Steven Gerrard makes Lassana Coulibaly Rangers’ eighth signing

The deal, subject to global clearance, makes the Mali worldwide Steven Gerrard's eighth signing for the Gers, ahead of his first managerial stint.

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Roma striker Umar Sadiq on a season-long loan, pending global clearance.

"Rangers are delighted to announce the signing of Umar Sadiq on a season long loan from Roma, subject to global clearance".

The 21-year-old scored two Serie A goals for the Giallorossi in the 2015-16 season, before loan spells at Bologna and Torino.

"The plan was to stay in Rome this season but when Steven Gerrard calls, you can't say no", Sadiq told Rangers TV.

Coulibaly becomes the eighth signing for the Gers under new boss Steven Gerrard, and will add another midfielder to his squad. He just asked me whether if I wanted to join his team or not and I said yes.

Wimbledon not moving if football does "come home"

"But I'm confident that come kick-off the players will be ready to go".

Coulibaly has made nine appearances for Mali.

Coulibaly may be followed through the entrance at Ibrox very soon with the club said to be confident of securing a season-long loan move for Roma forward Umar Sadiq. I don't watch the league, but I know about Celtic and Rangers in Scotland.

He smiled: "I don't like to say anything about myself but I am a hardworking player who always wants to help the team".

Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and Ovie Ejaria all joined earlier in the window.
