Strong reaction to Conor McGregor's World Cup final picture with Vladimir Putin

Conor McGregor was a guest of Russian president Validmir Putin at the World Cup final. The mixed martial arts star added that he was "honored to attend such a landmark event" with Putin.

Conor McGregor has had a busy time of it in recent weeks.

The Manchester United midfielder starts for France as they take on Croatia in the final in Moscow as Les Bleus look to take home their second World Cup title.

But eagle-eyed social media users couldn't help but notice the birthday cake behind him.

Putin, Trump seemed confident and delighted during summit
The Republican rebuke from Capitol Hill came largely from those lawmakers who have been willing to openly criticize the president. At the joint appearance in Finland with Putin, Trump repeated the Russian leader's denials about involvement in the election.

Conor McGregor is known for his controversial opinions.

Both fighters were supporting France and both posted pictures on their official Instagram accounts watching the game live.

McGregor made a court apperance last month after he was charged with several crimes following an April bus attack.

McGregor has not fought in the UFC since November 2016, when he won the lightweight belt by defeating Eddie Alvarez.
