Apple announces 60 new emojis that will be launched with iOS 12

They include more hair options to better represent folks with red, gray and curly hair - even a new emoji for people who are bald.

The top five most-used emojis on Facebook Messenger are, in order, the crying with laughter face, the hearts in eyes face, the blowing a kiss face, the heart emoji and the blushing cheeks face.

New emojis were first announced in February by the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit organization that manages the world's emoji standards. New animals include a parrot, lobster, peacock, and kangaroo. By 2015, the Oxford Dictionaries had chosen an emoji for its word of the year ("face with tears of joy") and by 2017 most communication platforms employing emojis included a diversity pack to reflect different races and cultures that had adopted them.

In the food department, you can expect to see emojis for mango, lettuce, cupcakes and mooncakes, among plenty others.

What did people even do before emojis? "In particular, the redheads and curly-haired options are likely to be popular", said Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia and creator of World Emoji Day, according to CNN. Instead of unicorns or robots, Apple's new Memoji are meant to look like you.
