"The Walking Dead" dropped a sneak peek of its season 9 trailer during San Diego Comic-Con. "I love the people who make this show", he said.

There was a pretty huge elephant in the room during The Walking Dead's Comic-Con panel, which is why Andrew Lincoln made a decision to kick off the day by confirming the news that he'd be leaving the show after Season 9.

The trailer principally focuses on the creation of a new world order as the survivors of the zombie apocalypse try and have themselves a society. We see many familiar faces in it, though some of them are a bit different than you may remember. I am particularly fond of the people that watch this show.

"I love this show, it means everything to me".

"That's stuff that I obviously don't want to spoil for fans, but I think what I can tell you is that we've got a great story for Rick", series showrunner Angela Kang said of Lincoln's impending departure in an interview with Deadline.

With tears in his eyes, he thanked the crowd and legions of fans for making the show "the most extraordinary, amazing, attractive experience" of his career. We're so proud of the work that we've done this season. Andrew has been played Rick Grimes on the show since it premiered in 2010.

"It's been so much a part of my life, I breathed it for 10 years", Lincoln added.

"No, I'm not turning on brother Rick", Reedus wrote on Instagram in April after the season 8 finale saw Daryl align himself with Maggie and Jesus (Tom Payne) in the season closer's final moments, suggesting the trio will act out against the imprisoned Negan.

The "Walking Dead" star has confirmed he will be leaving the AMC zombie series during season nine.
