Pep Guardiola admits he is concerned about Manchester City's title defence with players returning late after the World Cup. The American worldwide was one of the top performers for Borussia Dortmund and caused plenty of problems to Manchester City with his pace and directness in the first half.

The World Cup deprived the Chicago crowd of a host of stars, with Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero, Kyle Walker, Danilo, Vincent Kompany, John Stones, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Fabian Delph, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Fernandinho, Nicolas Otamendi and Ederson absent for the Premier League champions.

City tried to sign the Italy midfielder from Napoli but he opted for a move to Chelsea. "We spoke - they have to come back ready".

Guardiola may have to use some of his fringe players for the Community Shield game against Chelsea on August 5 and Premier League opener against Arsenal eight days later.

"In some minutes, we started well". If they are ready they'll help us and if not we'll wait for them.

"The players come back, try to do the basics and with the intention to make a good season".

"We had just one week or ten days together - most of the team played together for the first time".

Hart included in Man City's pre-season tour of the US

"If he decides to go to Chelsea for the reasons he has explained or will explain, then all the best for him".

'English football received an exceptional player at the end.

"My advice is always go where they want to go".

Hart spent last season on loan at West Ham, however, the former England number one is in the squad as he searches for a permanent move away.

"We will try to be ready to play every game like we did a year ago".

"At this moment, I play for Manchester City and I'm so happy to be part of this team".

Mahrez, 27 years old, has made the move to the Etihad in a £60m deal as Guardiola looks to mould the tricky winger into the ideal player to push Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane for their starting positions in the side.
