Xiaomi targets Europe with two cheap Android One phones

Several leaks and rumors have been doing the rounds on the internet about these two phones.

Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite smartphones at an event held in Berlin.

Interestingly the launch date didn't stop the online stores in placing the device up for sale and so far, the Chinese and United Kingdom store offers the best deal in terms of price tags on the device.

For version Mi A2 Lite 3 GB internal and 32 GB of internal memory in Europe will have to pay 179 Euro (5,500 USD). Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch Full-Screen display with Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Finally, the front phone is covered with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for the added protection and keeping the phone scratch free for a long time. For security, there is a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock feature. Similarly, the 64GB, 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 19,700 to 20,700 (RON 1,143 to 1,200). "About its optics, it sports a dual camera setup with 12+20MP featuring f/1.8, 1/2.9" and 1/2.8" sensor capable of shooting 720p, 1080p, and 2160p videos.

The camera setup on the Mi A2 consists of a total of three sensors. AI Segmentation will allow the phone to understand the foreground and background while the AI Bokeh will adjust the blur based on the information from the AI Segmentation. The company says that the phone will come to 40 countries.

Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in gold, blue and black colors. Both the devices will be running on stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will receive at least two major Android updates including the upcoming Android P. First, let's talk about the Mi A2 that comes with a metal unibody design. Charging is done via Micro USB, not via a USB-C as the older version. The two new smartphones are the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. It sports a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, Dual PD focus, Sony IMX363 sensor and LED falsh. Its distinguishing feature is of 5.84 inch LCD display with a neckline in the style of the iPhone X. The Mi A2 Lite is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 3/4GB RAM.

The Mi A2 Lite comes with 12 MP + 5 MP dual lens camera and a 5 MP front camera. Upfront there is a 5MP snapper for clicking selfies.

The Mi A2 is backed by Android One so that the interface will be familiar to most users in India. The Xiaomi Mi A1, for one, was a particularly interesting Android One device when it was introduced. As a plus, Mi A2 Lite will have a massive 4,000 mAh battery. Xiaomi Mi A2 price starts from EUR 249 (roughly Rs 20,000) for 32GB storage model, EUR 279 (roughly Rs 22,500) for 64GB model and EUR 349 (roughly Rs 28,150) for 128GB storage model.

In the camera department, the Mi A2 Lite gets a 12MP main camera with PDAF that's accompanied by a 5MP secondary shooter.
