The Transfer Window ™ is shut, slammed close, etc. Manchester United signed just two players to strengthen their first team squad this summer, with youngster Diogo Dalot joining Fred, while Lee Grant signed to provide back up as a senior goalkeeper.

But Scholes thinks United will be left in City's dust once again, while Liverpool could be more of a threat to the title.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has warned not to write off Manchester United's title chances, despite Jose Mourinho's despondent mood this summer.

A man now on the books of MLS side D.C. United said: "I am sure Jose (Mourinho) has been getting the team right".

'When I listen, when I read, it's hard to believe we finished second because you are capable of making people who finish second (sound like we) were relegated.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second".

Dozens killed, including children on a bus, in Yemen air strikes
A military coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates got involved in Yemen's civil war in 2015. A child lies in hospital after the school bus he was on was allegedly attacked by the Saudi-led coalition.

"They returned on Monday, trained Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today so you can imagine they are not really fit and ready but we have needs", Mourinho said.

"But I keep saying and thinking and feeling that the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game". "The list of injured players is an important list and, after training, I will speak with that group of [World Cup] players because everybody is different, physically and mentally, to see how they feel they are and to understand how they can help or not help".

Pre-season has clearly been a frustrating time for Mourinho, while a perceived lack of respect for leading his side to second spot last term has got under his skin.

"Of course it's hard to understand for people in football that Tottenham didn't sign or sell players, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently", he said in his press conference earlier today, as per The Mirror.

"Since nine years, every season - except the first when I arrived at Barcelona".

'I said during pre-season - it looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, something insane - but I repeat: pre-season is hard when you don't have your players to work, it's as simple as that'.
