Will Idris Elba be the next James Bond? Speculation reignites

Craig is set to play James Bond at least one more time in Bond 25, which will begin production later this year under the direction of Danny Boyle.

The news comes via director Antoine Fuqua, who is best known for movies such as The Equalizer and Training Day. "Idris has that." According to Fuqua's rep though that discussion never actually happened.

It remains to be seen where Bond 25 will rank amongst the Craig Bond films, but were' hoping that the actor ends his time as Agent 007 on a high note! You need a guy with a physically strong presence.

For starters, it seems a little odd that Fuqua is involved in this conversation, or that he discussed it at his new app's launch event.

While the news of Elba taking the role has not been confirmed, a report by CNN refutes the comments made by Fuqua. "He would not be lucky to play Bond, the studio would be lucky to have him do it", wrote The Trevor Project's Calvin Stowell.

Elba, 45, was rumored to be the next James Bond in 2014 following the hack into Sony Pictures' emails. "Idris has that", the director added.

Elba is baffled by the rumours, and insisted that producers have yet to approach him about the role, and it's all up to the "will of the people".

"Are we interested in having a Bond character other than being a male?"

The discussion over who could play the next James Bond could be nearing it's conclusion, as the biggest clue yet has been dropped over the next actor's identity. "It could be a woman - could be a black woman, could be a white woman - but I think, that character, everybody would like to see it have...do something different with it, why not?"
