Space Force To Become Sixth Branch Of US Armed Forces

The last time the U.S. created a new branch of the military was in 1947 with the establishment of the Air Force.

Creating a sixth branch of the United States military to oversee space defense - a Space Force -could spur technological innovation, but could just as likely cause disruption among organizations tasked with defending us military and commercial interests in orbit, according to Margaret E. Kosal, an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

However, Dodge added, one driving force to create a Space Force now instead of sometime in the future is political. "What was once peaceful and uncontested is now crowded and adversarial".

But for critics, the force is an expensive and unnecessary step in the wrong direction.

The White House points to galactic threats from USA adversaries, particularly Russian Federation and China, which could develop weapons to jam, blind or destroy satellites that are crucial to communications systems. Dodge said it would "free up the Air Force to focus on what it does best", as the new branch addressed issues unique to space.

Anyway, the reasons behind the establishment of the "Space Force" are pretty weird.

Donald Trump has tasked the US Department of Defence and The Pentagon with the creation of a new force to uphold "American dominance" in space.

What did Mike Pence say about the Space Force?

Woodland stays ahead after rain-hit second round
So much for Woods being exhausted after all that exertion he has expended this year in returning from three back operations. Asked what Furyk's reaction to all the birdies was, Finau said, "He didn't say anything, but he was just shaking his head".

"We're building bipartisan support for our plan", he said. It also oversees Air Force cyberwarfare.

The new branch will have a separate command by the end of the year.

The idea of a Space Force was first brought before Congress in 2017, said ABC. "The Space Force will grow the world's most capable national security space workforce".

Each of the logos features the words "Space Force". "Maybe, just maybe, we should make sure our people are not dying because they lack health insurance before we start spending billions to militarize outer space", Vermont senator Bernie Sanders said on Twitter.

Sen. Bill Nelson is among the lawmakers opposed to the idea. Citing concerns about Russian Federation and China's growing fleet of satellites and technological advancements in space technology, the administration sees building a separate force as vital to protecting our interests in space.

Pence said the force "will not be built from scratch", but will tap existing space program personnel.

The US already has some space fighting capabilities, with long-range missiles to satellite tracking.

Over the past several weeks, there was widespread speculation that the Pentagon would pursue half-measures - such as establishing a unified space command - but avoid creating an entirely new service.
