Unai Emery sends warning to Gunners sqaud

Petr Cech will continue in goal for Arsenal against Chelsea despite criticism over his performance against Manchester City, Unai Emery has confirmed.

Cech was heavily criticized on social media following Arsenal's 0-2 defeat in the hands of Manchester City despite making some fine saves.

But Emery, whose style of play puts added pressure on the goalkeeper's passing ability, said that game has not made him change his mind about starting Cech over newcomer Bernd Leno when they travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The French boss has stuck with his number one, telling the club website: "I am very happy with his performance".

"We want the competition between the goalkeepers and also every player in the squad", said the Spaniard. I expected a little more on Saturday, they had a big change, and after 22 years it's different if something is new, of course.

With Cech preferred to former Leverkusen stopper Bernd Leno, who left the German club to join the Gunners in the summer, they replied to a clip of a mistake with "we know a guy." before running a video of Leno playing out from the back.

The two countries fell out during the election over Berlin's refusal to let Turkish politicians campaign on German soil. It said the southeastern Turkish city of Gaziantep has halted imports of American brands and products.

Veteran Cech, 36, struggled with Emery's demands to play out from the back against City and nearly scored a comical own goal by passing the ball inches past his own post.

One problem area for Emery may be solved by the return of Nacho Monreal at left-back. Against City as well, I think he played well also. I want to see how the pressing from the front is going to work.

"I thought the best thing for him was to play 15 to 20 minutes when the opposition was exhausted".

Arsenal still have issues at left-back heading into the game, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles ruled out for up to eight weeks after fracturing his leg against Man City when filling in in that role.

"We want a good preparation before and a good response on the pitch to that preparation".
