Snedeker rolled in a 20-foot birdie putt at his final hole, the par-4 ninth, to join one of golf's most exclusive clubs. Jim Furyk set the record with a 58 in the final round of the Travelers Championship in 2016.

Sergio Garcia will need a top-20 finish in the Wyndham Championship to keep his streak of qualifying for the FedEx Cup play-offs alive.

Finishing inside the top 125 means a golfer is fully exempt on the PGA Tour for the following season, giving them the opportunity to choose their schedule.

"I knew one good week could lock up my card and I haven't been able to do that".

Snedeker missed much of the 2017 season with injury but has been healthy so far this year, with three top-10 finishes and a T-3 at last month's Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. The Raleigh native and former Wake Forest player who won this tournament in 2011 enters as the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 12 on the points list. "Obviously I'd like to be in a slightly different position ideally, but still have a good chance", said Conners, who spent last week at home visiting friends and enjoying a rare week off.

"If you play well", Peter Uihlein said, "you jump up quite a bit". But that ranking is his lowest since the tour's postseason format debuted in 2007.

"Every first year on a tour has been a learning experience for me and I feel like I've got a little better with each one", said Silverman.

Four consecutive birdies from his fourth hole got the ball rolling, before he plundered his inward half, roaring home in 27 strokes with six birdies and an eagle.

He birdied four holes in a row on his front nine for a 32.

But at the par-4 eighth, Snedeker missed a six-foot birdie putt and tapped in for par. "I kind of took that mindset of, well, better get out there and make some birdies if you don't want to be 10, 11 shots behind by the end of this day".

"Could have been even more special", he said, "but happy with the way everything turned out". "It's nice to see some of these guys from my hometown play great", Simpson said.
