Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is once again back in the form with a great start of his recently released film Gold. Plus, both the film were filled with the feeling of patriotism which is apt for the day.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Monday revealed that the Satyameva Jayate and Gold box office collection over the first weekend are in the range of Rs 125 crore. Today, audiences are the real king, and the positive word of mouth has worked in the favour of both the films.

Gold has therefore become Akshay Kumar's best first day performer. "And the biz multiplies on Sun". Satyameva Jayate is on the fifth while Gold got the third biggest opening. Though, both the movies recorded fantastic opening day collections, there was a huge decline in the footfalls for both the films on day two. With their mammoth first day collections, the films together had beaten the highest opening day record in the Hindi film circuit, which belonged to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 40 crore net collections.

The film, despite clashing with Akshay Kumar's Gold and being panned by critics, saw about Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office on its first Sunday (August 19). "The film showed a little drop as single screens where the film was registering good collections showed a noticeable drop but that is sort of expected after a good run for three days", Box Office India reported.

While Akshay's Gold had released on 3,050 screens in India, John's action drama was released on 2,500 screens.
