John Oliver Tears Into Rudy Giuliani's Ridiculous 'Truth Isn't Truth' Trump Defense

Giuliani's attempt at clarification was prompted by an appearance Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press", during which he and host Chuck Todd discussed the circumstances under which Trump would submit to an interview by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

WATCH: Rudy Giuliani tells @chucktodd that he doesn't want President Trump to be caught in a perjury trap by speaking with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

"I guess Jared is a fine man, you know that", Giuliani said.

Donald Trump's attorney, Rudy Guiliani, declared on Sunday that "truth isn't truth".

It was then that Giuliani argued, saying that truth isn't truth, blowing Todd's and Oliver's minds.

It started when Mr Guiliani said: "Look, I'm not going to be rushed into having him testify so that he gets trapped into perjury".

"Don't do "truth isn't truth" to me", Todd said.

He pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is cooperating with Mueller's probe.

"The meeting was originally for the objective of getting information about Clinton", Giuliani said.

The rationale used by Trump and now by Giuliani contradicts a statement the president helped craft in 2017, which said the meeting with lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya had been arranged to discuss US policies for adopting Russian children.

Aguero nets hat-trick as Man City thrash Huddersfield
But, incredibly, Huddersfield scored from their first attack of the game, three minutes before the interval. Sergio Aguero celebrates after scoring his hat-trick and Manchester City's fifth.

"Donald Trump says 'I didn't talk about Flynn with Comey, '" he said.

Comey says you did talk about it. She quizzes Giuliani on several of the mysteries that have occupied us on Power Line.

"What is Giuliani doing?!"

President Donald Trump is insisting that White House lawyer Don McGahn isn't "a John Dean type 'RAT'". "Nowadays they are", Giuliani claimed.

"Truth exists and truth matters".

"All they knew is that a woman with a Russian name wanted to meet with them", Giuliani said.

Trump has consistently denied Russian Federation colluded with his campaign team during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. He now claims, confusingly, that the sitdown was all about getting dirt on Hillary Clinton (not adoptions after all!), but that Trump officials had no idea that actual Russians would be involved (which is definitely not true).

Trump at the time seemed to be responding to stories from CNN and the Washington Post that cited several anonymous sources close to the president who said his concerns over Trump Jr. have pushed him to issue more critical public statements attacking U.S. intelligence and the media. However that charitable reading is problematic because Trump's relationship with the truth is dubious as best, and Giuliani has to know that fact.

"This is going to be a bad meme", he said.
