John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber become EGOT winners

Legend, Webber and Rice won their Emmy for producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which was awarded the best variety special victor at Sunday night's Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Huge news for John Legend, as today, he finally managed to win an Emmy award thereby giving him an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony - otherwise known as the illustrious "EGOT" which is often considered hitting the pinnacle of success within the entertainment industry.

Legends' career has been illustrious, he has picked up 10 Grammy awards. And then he completed the EGOT with Jesus Christ Superstar.

Legend is still up for another Emmy this year for his performance as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. He's also nominated for outstanding actor in a limited series or movie for his role as Jesus. Legend was a producer on the show, while Webber and Rice - who wrote the original 1970 Broadway musical - won as composer and lyricist, respectively. He won an Oscar for a song with Common.

Two British tourists among seven injured in Paris knife attack

The special trio of Legend, Lloyd Webber and Rice - officially the 13th, 14th and 15th members of the EGOT club - join an elite group of winners that includes Robert Lopez, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Rita Moreno, Mike Nichols and Whoopi Goldberg. So happy to be part of this team.

"Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert" received 13 Emmy nominations. So amazed to be in such rarefied air.

Legend, 39, won a Creative Arts Emmy last night for producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live.
