OnePlus confirms the 6T will have an in-display fingerprint sensor

Last week we posted an article suggesting that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will have an in-display fingerprint sensor based on leaked packaging. On the other hand, I feel that the in-display fingerprint sensor gives you the freedom of unlocking the phone without lifting it from the table.

OnePlus told CNET that the OnePlus 6T will feature a fingerprint sensor inside the display.

The tech, dubbed Screen Unlock, reduces the number of steps needed to unlock the phone, the rep said. The lower bezel of the OnePlus 6T will be narrower, bringing about a larger screen-to-body ratio.

For that reason the OnePlus 6T is highly anticipated - it is expected to build upon everything the OnePlus 6 did right while also touting new features of its own.

On the other hand, OnePlus has already confirmed that it will launch its T model: OnePlus 6T this year on October 17. We don't yet know what will be the goal of the third camera: it could be a telephoto lens, a super wide-angle lens or a dedicated black-and-white shooter (our bet is on a tele lens). This will be a first for OnePlus, which is now joining a slew of Android device makers that have adopted in-display fingerprint sensors.

OnePlus has reportedly signed a tentative accord with the USA carrier, which will see the firm release a "specific version of the OnePlus 6T optimised for T-Mobile's network" that will include support for the operator's Extended Range LTE technology.

The main benefit of the feature is that allows users to unlock the device without picking the phone up. In India, three Vivo phones are the only phones to come with display fingerprint sensing technology: Vivo X21, Vivo NEX, and the recent Vivo V11 Pro.

Despite being known as "in-screen fingerprint readers" the technology is actually embedded underneath displays. Thanks to the addition of an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the OnePlus 6T has a slightly tweaked design compared to the OnePlus 6. This comes months after the company launched its current flagship, the OnePlus 6 in the market.
