Lloris was on Monday fined £50,000 (US$65,000) and handed a 20-month driving ban for drink-driving. Lloris has made 256 appearances with Tottenham since joining from the French club Lyon in 2012.

His £115,000 Porsche was seen veering across the road, nearly hitting parked cars, and running a red light when it was stopped by police.

Pochettino described the 2-1 defeat at Watford as a "massive wake-up call" and said his side would have to be at their very best to have a chance of emulating last year's result against Juergen Klopp's Reds. He made a mistake and he's suffering all the punishment of society.

"Of course he was lucky there was no effect", Pochettino said.

"First of all I want to congratulate him, because it's such an important victory to avoid the military service", Pochettino said. "Because he is clever he'll learn and now he is going to move on".

"He's punishing himself. But of course we're not God, that we can judge people".

Wind approaches outer banks of North Carolina
The entire coastlines of North and SC , in addition to some parts of southeastern Virginia, are under a mandatory evacuation plan. If the storm makes landfall as a Category 2, these winds will be damaging, sustained at up to 160km/h or so with higher gusts.

"But I think everyone can make a mistake".

Lloris' solicitor said: "By 2am he was completely drunk. Like a man you need to recognise your mistake". "He apologised to everyone - the staff, the club, the fans, us - and he said "any decision that you take gaffer, or the club, I think is fair".

For Pochettino, Lloris's situation is an example of the many distractions that take managers' and players' attentions away from preparing for matches.

'I am learning a lot!' Pochettino joked.

"Disappointed, because we're going to miss him for this game, and possibly Inter Milan in the Champions League (on Tuesday), but it is not a big issue", Pochettino told reporters.

In addition to them, Juan Foyth (thigh) and Moussa Sissoko (hamstring) will also miss the Premier League fixture with Liverpool.
