The electric vehicle manufacturer has warned customers that they have a small window of opportunity to order the colors before its too late.

$1.8 billion of Tesla bonds due in August 2025 plunged to a record low on Friday.

The action in the bond market signals mounting worry about the high-wire act at Tesla. While the potential of the $35,000 Model 3 is vast, Tesla and even CEO Elon Musk have been quite conservative when releasing updates about the upcoming electric sedan.

Jonas said he has "no knowledge" that an equity buyout is being considered by Tesla. Tesla's head of investor relations Martin Viecha facilitated the tour, while also provided some updates on the company's upcoming projects. That strategy paid off as Tesla built a huge lead in the electric auto race, although that position is under assault from intense competition by rival manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz and Ford. In other words, Musk was aiming for the company to ramp up its production rate by 20 times in five years.

"Tesla is extremely leveraged".

There is a waiting list of more than 400,000 people who want to buy a Tesla, and some have been waiting since March 2016, when the company first started taking orders. In fact, as other vehicle manufacturers such as Mercedes and BMW put their own focus on electric cars, mass production of the Model 3 is essential for Tesla's long-term survival. In late August, Musk acknowledged that paint has been a challenge. On Joe Rogan's podcast last week, the billionaire wielded a flamethrower, unsheathed a Samurai sword and took a puff of what Rogan said was a joint of marijuana and tobacco. On Thursday, CEO Elon Musk was filmed smoking marijuana during a live interview.

Despite rebounding 6% on Monday, Tesla's share price has plunged 29% from the peak of $389.61 on the day Musk tweeted the go-private plan. Gill has an "underperform" rating on Tesla.

The behaviour is likely to have contributed to recent executive departures including Chief Accounting Officer David Morton, who left last week after only one month on the job, Shah wrote. "We believe Tesla could consider an auction for its shares in the private equity market, financed by existing shareholders, new strategics, divestiture of valuable captive assets (Tesla autonomous/shared), and possibly some help from SpaceX".

The only forecast Tesla had given previously for the third quarter was that it would produce 50,000 to 55,000 Model 3s. Both said it would be highly unlikely for deliveries to begin in September and more likely for them to begin in 2019.

It may no longer be up to Musk.

There have also been a series of freakish tweets from Musk, several accusing the diver who saved the boys' soccer team trapped a waterlogged cave in Thailand of being a pedophile.
