While they're hard at work on two Pokémon games, another project called Town (Working Title) is also in development for Switch.

The game was revealed as part of last night's Nintendo Direct, with a short glimpse of gameplay. The introduction video teases that the village has a secret.

The game is now titled Town, but that seems to be a working title that will likely change during the course of the game's development. The entire game is said to be set within this one town, with what looks to be a turn-based battle system.

Game Freak has based Town on creatures that are antagonistic in nature, therefore, serving as a threat to you as a player and your village. However, the ways in which players fight back differ from other Game Freak titles.

The dual Nigerian and British national did not initially comment on the claims, leading to criticism from her opponents.

While Game Freak has mainly become known for its Pokemon games, it does make other titles, such as Pocket Card Jockey and the overlooked Tembo the Badass Elephant. It seems that you are the - or one of the - town protectors who is tasked with defending the village against whatever may come.

We're hoping Town lives up to Game Freak's pedigree, and are looking forward to learning more about the game in the future.

TOWN is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.
