Vikings-Packers Game Ends in Tie After Kicker Misses Another FG

Mike McCarthy's playcalling is not the primary story right now because of that call and because of multiple missed field goals from Vikings kicker Daniel Carlson but it also bears mentioning.

The rookie pushed his final kick wide right, just like his attempt from 49 earlier in overtime.

The 29-29 tie Sunday will feel like a loss, especially after the Packers led 29-21 deep in the fourth quarter and had a shot at a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Cousins notched a better day statistically than Rodgers, who played with a large brace on his left knee after sustaining a sprain last week.

A call against Clay Matthews changed the outcome of Sunday's Packers-Vikings game, and the Green Bay linebacker is heated. Last week, OK, shame on me.

"I have so many emotions kind of running through as far as what a awful call it was", Matthews told reporters.

Jaguars' Ramsey: No fear of Gronkowski
He ran the ball for 35 yards and converted three third downs with his legs as part of a 10-of-14 performance on third down. Week 1 was a very tough matchup against a 2017 AFC finalist and NY should have come away with a win.

Referee Tony Corrente explained after the game officials believed Matthews picked up Cousins and drove him into the ground. "At the same time, I don't know what else to do".

This week, Matthews was once again called for the same penalty and it negated an interception that likely would've given the Packers a win.

Now, if Aaron Rodgers plays the whole game and plays well, the Packers will score more than 13 points.

Rodgers was 30 of 42 for 281 yards.

Carlson said he thought it might have been the first time he had missed three field goals in a game. "You've got a target area the size of a strike zone and then you can't fall on top of them, and then you can't hit them in the knees, and you can't hit them low and you can't hit them in the head so you have to hit them in the strike zone and then you can't fall on them". "But I think, you know, it's going to be a handsome day Sunday, great weather ... natural grass, a great environment". When it was all said and done, the Packers settled for a field goal. "Had a number of opportunities to come away with the win, but the tie, as they say, it is what is". With Laquon Treadwell and Stacy Coley being negatives at the third receiver spot, it was on Diggs and Thielen to carry the Vikings passing attack, and they did just that.
