Actor Captain Raju passes away

Actor Captain Raju who acted in films like - Rowdy Alludu, Maatho Pettukoku, Kondapalli Raja, Shatruvu died today. The veteran actor breathed his last this morning at his residence in Kochi. After the crew was alerted about Captain Raju's stroke, the flight was diverted and landed in Oman, Muscat. After a week's treatment in Muscat, he was airlifted back to Kochi on 2 July.

The Nadigar Sangam has released a condolence statement in which Captain Raju has been praised for his 37 years of service to the film industry and his deep involvement in the organization as well. He had acted in more than 500 films in the languages of Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and English. He was often cast as a villain and featured in character roles and in TV serials.

Some of his popular movies include Nadodikattu, Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha and Pavam Krooran.

In addition to acting, he had also directed two films, Mr Pavanayi 99.99 and Itha Oru Snehagatha.

He is survived by his wife Prameela and son Raviraj.
