Chelsea now sit at the top of the table but Pellegrini insists he is "confident" that his team can trouble the Blues.

He said: 'It's impossible to start better than Chelsea have. We have to go step by step and just try to win the next game.

Off the back of the triumph at Everton, he told West Ham's official app: "We really needed this victory a lot, we suffered a bit but as it happened in the games we lost we were united and we knew that victory would come".

'We have our first one with Chelsea, who are top of the table, which is big motivation'.
