'Multiple Victims' In Shooting At Maryland Business Park

The shooting unfolded shortly after the suspect, a temporary employee there, reported for work around 9 a.m. EDT (1300 GMT) at the warehouse in Perryman, Maryland, about 34 miles (55 km) northeast of Baltimore, Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said at a news conference.

The suspect used a single handgun, the sheriff said, and no officers fired any shots at the scene.

Harford County Sheriff's Office said there are "multiple victims" and the situation has not yet been contained.

Susan Henderson, spokeswoman for the chemists chain Rite Aid, described the building where the shooting took place as a support facility adjacent to a larger building.

"The distribution center is where products are received and processed for delivery", she said.

He says she pulled a hooded shirt over her head and began shooting, striking a man outside the building.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted about the shooting Thursday. "The State stands ready to offer any support", he tweeted.

Colleen Hendrickson, who lives and works in the area, said she was waiting on the bus when someone told her there had been a shooting nearby. The suspect, who police identified as 43-year-old Anthony Tong, died after being shot by police who were responding to the incident.

David Graf, a local businessman, said police "have the whole area blocked off".

An official says multiple people have been killed in a shooting Harford County, Maryland.

Rite Aid spokesman Pete Strella said in a statement that those at the company felt "deeply saddened" by the events and would make grief counselors available to employees "as long as they are needed".

Deadly shootings are common in the United States, where the right to bear arms is protected by the USA constitution.

Snochia Moseley, 26, opened fire at the facility near Aberdeen on Thursday - the latest shooting in the United States and the second workplace rampage in 24 hours. Inside, where there were about 65 people, she fatally struck two women and shot three other people who have survived.

Thursday's attack came five months after an Iran-born female animal rights activist gunned down three people before killing herself at YouTube's California headquarters.
