Apple issued a critical update to iOS 12 today that fixes several bugs plaguing iPhone XS and XS Max devices since their initial release.

"The update additionally moves the position of the ".?123" key on the iPad virtual keyboard back to where it is expected to be, fixes a problem with subtitles in certain video applications, and fixes a bug that caused Bluetooth to become unavailable.

Although not something observed by every user - and indeed the glitch appeared to only be impacting a minority of devices - it could still be frustrating.

Along with the charging issue, the iOS 12.0.1 also fixes the issues with Wi-Fi. According to reports from Apple's support forums, affected phones and tablets would not begin charging when a Lighting cable was plugged in, or when the device was placed on a Qi wireless charging pad (if supported). With iOS 12.0 final released recently, iOS 12.1 beta out in test with developers, and iOS 12.0.1 now in the hands of the public, all in the space of just over couple of weeks, we're going to look at the changes and security content of that interim firmware release. This also solves other issues related to WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The update should be available to all users now, and users who have Automatic Updates enabled-a new feature in iOS 12-should receive the update overnight if their devices are connected to Wi-Fi and connected to a power source.

If you're experiencing issues with your iPhone, update to the latest version of iOS right now. It's a roughly 157 MB download, so you might want to be on WiFi when you do that.
