Following the Senate's vote to confirm Kavanaugh, RAINN said in a statement that the group is "disappointed in the outcome" but "glad that America got the opportunity to hear Dr. Blasey Ford's testimony". They point out he served for 12 years on the country's second-most important court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where he penned more than 300 opinions, many of which were upheld by the Supreme Court.

"On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the bad pain and suffering you have been forced to endure", Mr Trump said at the jurist's White House swearing-in ceremony.

The misconduct complaints concern Kavanaugh's answers about his work in the George W. Bush administration and his comments about Democrats using allegations of sexual assault against him, according to the Post.

At a White House ceremony on Monday night, Kavanaugh said he was starting his new job without bitterness.

Fresh off the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, questions arose about what Republicans might do if another vacancy opens on the court in 2020 - and Republican leadership doesn't agree on what they'd do in that situation. Almost two-thirds, or 63%, of likely women voters said they will vote for the Democratic congressional nominee in November, compared to 33% of likely women voters who said they'll vote Republican.

Kavanaugh took his seat at the right end of the courtroom's mahogany bench - the location assigned to the court's junior-most member - and wore traditional black robes like the other justices. One of the two cases the court is hearing Wednesday involves the detention of immigrants, an issue on which Kavanaugh's vote could be key. While Trump apologized on behalf of the nation for "the awful pain and suffering" Kavanaugh and his family had experienced and declared him "proven innocent", the new justice assured Americans that he would be fair and was taking the job with "no bitterness".

'Pet Sematary' Remake Gets A Creepy Resurrection In Chilling Trailer
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the Pet Sematary remake , which arrives in theaters on April 19, 2019. The latest spooky story to get the remake treatment is Mary Lambert's 1989 Pet Sematary , based on King's 1983 novel.

This comes after Kavanaugh was sworn in over the weekend by retired Justice Anthony Kennedy and Chief Justice John Roberts, who also attended the ceremony.

While the organization describes itself as non-partisan, Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court was anything but. "The Supreme Court is an institution of law". It capped a fight that seized the national conversation after claims emerged that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted women three decades ago.

Yet Murkowski, ever the ally of the Left, wavered and voted with the Democrats to stop Kavanaugh's confirmation from going forward.

On Oct. 6, Kavanagh was confirmed to the court by a vote of 50-48 in the Senate, a slim victory after multiple women had accused him of sexual misconduct.

The White House event was purely ceremonial. Kavanaugh has also hired four clerks, all women, the first time that has happened. Among these are approving important presidential appointments, ratifying treaties with other countries and overseeing investigations of officials and public bodies.

Ultimately, every Democrat voted against Kavanaugh except for Sen.
