XXXTentacion's Mom Accepts Post-Humous Award at 2018 AMAs

Taylor Swift, straight off a controversial dive into US politics, was the big victor at the American Music Awards on Tuesday where she used her platform to again urge her fans to get out and vote.

The gongs brought her to an impressive career total of 23 AMAs, meaning she overtook Whitney Houston for the most wins by a female artist at the fan-voted show.

Swift used her acceptance speech for artist of the year to encourage her fans to vote. But I have to be really honest with you about something: "I'm even more excited about the next chapter".

"Thank you a million times for this", Swift told the crowd, accepting the award for her latest album, Reputation.

Swift also performed the show's opening number. The song is from her top-selling "reputation" album.

It is possible that it could be a continuation of the franchise with a new cast of incarcerated supervillains. Gunn is expected to take an entirely new approach, and potentially direct the new Suicide Squad instalment.

The rapper hit the stage to give a festive and colourful performance of her No. 1 hit, I Like It, where she was joined by J Balvin and Bad Bunny, who was wheeled onstage inside a shopping cart. She voted against equal pay for women. She also condemned Republican senatorial candidate Marsha Blackburn for her voting record on women's rights and equal marriage.

Her words follow comments she made on social media earlier this week, in which she endorsed two Democrat candidates in her home state of Tennessee: Phil Bredesen for the Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives.

"And you know what else is voted on by the people..." she said. Additionally, several of gospel and R&B's heaviest hitters will assemble for what's sure to be a touching Aretha Franklin tribute.

Ciara put in an energetic performance at the American Music Awards. He also just received posthumously the Best New Artist Award at the BET Hip-Hop Awards last weekend as well.

Cardi B and Drake are both nominated for eight awards.
