The rapper had previously spoken out about his bipolar disorder, but told Trump on Thursday that was a misdiagnosis and that West is instead just sleep-deprived.

"I just channeled it", the musician said, adding - to further gasps - that Trump "might not have expected to have a insane motherfucker like Kanye West supporting him". The storm killed more than 1,800 people and left thousands struggling to find food, water and shelter.

Ike Barinholtz, who directed the upcoming Trump-inspired political satire "The Oath", said the meeting was inappropriate given the hurricane that is wrecking havoc on the east coast.

West has been publicly supportive of Trump for several months, giving a similar speech to the audience after a performance on "Saturday Night Live" that was not aired.

Rapper Kanye West met Thursday with Donald Trump, telling the President in an Oval Office meeting before reporters why he supports the Republican.

Mr. West said that he didn't have "a lot of male energy" in his home due to his parents' separation and noted that he is married into a family of strong women-including his wife, Kim Kardashian.

"This is Trump speaking to his white backers saying "I'm not racist", Williams said.

"... It hurts us as people, specifically black people, the idea, because we say, was America ever great for us? We're going to make certain categories tougher when it comes to drug dealing and other things, but there has to be a reform because it is very unfair right now", he said. The president's hat said, "Make America Great", Ivanka's blue version said, "Make Earth Great Again", and Jared's black cap said, "Travel Space Again".

"Could very well be", Trump said in the Oval Office when asked if he thought the MAGA-hat wearing rapper could be elected president.

I love everyone, right?

But he did not identify with her campaign slogan, "I'm With Her", because it "just didn't make me feel, as a guy that didn't get to see my dad all the time, like a guy that could play catch with his son", West said. "You made a Superman cape for me, also, as a guy who looks up to you ... looks up to American industry guys, nonpolitical, no bullshit - put the beep on it - however you wanna do it, five-second delay ..." He elaborated: "Time is a myth".

Talking at speed on everything from Mr Trump's protectionist trade polices to black gun crime and "infinite amounts of universe", West left the normally talkative president nearly speechless with his performance.
