Singapore Airlines is bringing back its longest flight from Singapore to NY on October 11, to regain the title of the world's longest flight from Qatar Airways' Doha-Aukland flight, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Singapore Airlines is relaunching the service five years after they withdrew it because it had become too expensive, reports the BBC.

The longest service from Europe, the Qantas London to Perth service introduced in March this year, covers a similar distance in about 17 hours. "A business class ticket will entitle passengers to two meals, and the choice of when they are served, plus refreshments in between".

Tilo Kruger was boarding the flight with three friends - all members of the "first to fly" club, which was formed after the inaugural Airbus A380 flew from Singapore to Sydney in 2007.

As with other Singapore Air long-haul routes, you can eat local favourites such as chicken rice and beef hor fun, or 'Book the Cook, ' a service that allows you to order dishes like lobster thermidor or rib-eye steak up to 24 hours before the flight.

It has since flown to New York's JFK Airport via Frankfurt and to Los Angeles via Tokyo and Seoul. Airbus rejigged the fuel system on a standard A350-900 and pumped 17 per cent more jet kerosene into the tanks in the wings. The airline is now using the an Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 161 seats, 92 fewer than the company's usual seat count on the same aircraft.

Sancho surprised by first England call-up
If you're ready to play overseas and you believe in yourself, why not? "I don't know what to say to that". Sancho could soon be the most expensive Englishman of all time.

Singapore previously operated the route using Airbus A340-500 airliners before suspending the service in 2013.

She said capacity would need to be managed carefully given high fuel prices, but there should be sufficient demand as long as the United States and global economies remained robust.

This trip was made with the new, more fuel efficient Airbus A350-900ULR, which consumes 25 percent less fuel than its predecessor.

The plane has a higher ceiling, bigger windows and a wider body, with less noise in the cabin and LED lighting that is created to reduce jet lag.

However, Singapore Airlines has been offering low initial fares on its USA non-stop routes, including as little as S$1,438 ($1,040) return for premium economy on Singapore-Newark, CAPA Centre for Aviation Chief Analyst Brendan Sobie said.

There's so much going on in ultra-long-haul flying that Business Insider turned to air travel intelligence firm OAG for the authoritative list of the long flights in the world.
