Precisely 18 hours and 25 minutes later the same service is scheduled to touch down at Newark Liberty International in New Jersey where it will be crowned the world's longest flight. The extreme ultra long-haul flights to and from the island nation are scheduled for 17 hours 50 minutes on the outbound and 18-hours and 30-minutes on the return to Singapore with the route replacing Doha to Auckland, now operated by Qatar Airways, as the world's longest. During that time, officials at Airbus will be keeping a close eye on the ultra-long range plane.

After five years of stopping services, Singapore Airlines is coming back to the skies in a big way.

Of two possible routes that Singapore Airlines could take to Newark, the airline has already told its passengers that they'll be opting for the NOPAC route, or the North Pacific route.

Singapore Airlines now has 21 A350-900s in its fleet and has 46 more on order with manufacturer Airbus. The aircraft was just recently delivered to Singapore about two weeks ago on September 22. This layout matches the layout of the A340s when the route was paused 5 years ago.

Long-haul flights half way across the globe are making a comeback even with oil prices close to their highest in four years.

It's likely those who booked from India were looking forward to flying an aircraft with no economy class seats.

The ability to create and share an image is being rolled out to now and should arrive for everyone over the coming weeks. As per its name, the perspective will change when the user tilts their phone in different directions to view the image.

The airline is not planning to offer any economy bookings on the route. It is said that the business class seats for the flight were fully booked with "limited number of premium economy seats" left.

Business seats come with a mattress topper and firm and soft pillows. Additionally, to encourage standing and stretching in-flight, the galley will feature self-serve snacks available throughout the flight. That made for a flight of 17 hours and 52 minutes.

The A350-900ULR also has multiple temperatures zones for precise climate control throughout the passenger cabin, and over 16 million ambient lighting settings that can be programmed to help travelers adjust their circadian rhythms on specific routes.

A 15,343km (9,534-mile) flight from Singapore safely landed at Newark International Airport in the USA on Thursday.

The flight has two pilots and two first officers, aided by a 13-people cabin crew. It has become the world's longest direct passenger flight.

The aircraft will also be used for new non-stop flights between Singapore and Los Angeles, which are to be launched on 2 November 2018, as well as to increase services on the existing Singapore-San Francisco route.
