Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) is coming off a victory over Gennady Golovkin in a middleweight showdown in September.

Canelo's first fight on DAZN will occur on December 15, when he battles Rocky Fielding inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

"Canelo is the highest-paid athlete in the world", Alvarez's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy, told ESPN.

"This is only from my hard work", Alvarez told ESPN after signing the contract.

In the ever-changing world of boxing's splintered broadcasting market in America, Wednesday's announcement is a big one for DAZN considering it is now the home of the sport's two biggest global stars.

Canada now world’s largest legal marijuana marketplace
Bill Blair, a former police chief in Toronto who is Trudeau's pointman for pot legalisation, remains optimistic. The reform will be scrutinised by Canadians ahead of the next election in 2019.

The reported value of the deal would top the previous most-valuable contract - the $325m 13-year deal of baseball star Giancarlo Stanton in 2014. "By bringing Canelo's fights to DAZN, we will turn his pay-per-view success into a growth engine for subscribers - a truly transformational moment for our business and the entire industry". The Mexican boxer will receive additional proceeds from every fight if he surpasses the agreed-upon PPV benchmark for sales. "That was the most important thing, more important than what I am making".

It will offer fans a monthly subscription service to watch the fights rather than having to pay hefty pay-per-view fees. The streaming service, which costs $9.99 a month, is looking more and more like a must-have for combat sports fans.

Lionel Messi, who earned $111 million past year, is likely to be his main competition for the highest-earning athlete title, but reports indicate that Alvarez could have earned upwards of $120 million for 2018 by the time of his debut fight with DAZN.
