Canelo Alvarez Wants Floyd Mayweather Rematch, Stop Hurting Boxing!

Alvarez's first bout of the deal sees him step up to super-middleweight to face Rocky Fielding on 15 December.

However, it will earn him more than £1m a week over the five years and Alvarez - beaten only by Floyd Mayweather in a 53-fight career - can increase his earnings if DAZN achieve pre-determined subscription targets.

The move represents the latest coup for DAZN, which only launched in the U.S. in September after announcing a landmark US$1 billion joint venture with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing in what was described as the biggest deal in the sport's history. De La Hoya told ESPN that in addition to Alvarez, Golden Boy signed an undisclosed deal to promote 10 cards annually on DAZN beginning in 2019.

Canelo Alvarez, fresh off his razor-thin split decision "victory" over Gennady Golovkin, which, in this writer's opinion, was an absolute shambles of a result, has signed the highest-earning sports contract of all time.

Golden Boy Promotions' Oscar De La Hoya had announced that negotiations to find Canelo a new home would be getting underway immediately - and he wasn't lying. "They're the two most important fighters in the world", Skipper said.

Canelo was most recently aligned with USA broadcaster HBO but the network announced it would move away from live boxing coverage at the end of 2018.

Local officials have not released the identity of the person, but say many homes along the lake and rivers have been flooded. Greg Abbot on Tuesday issued a state disaster declaration for 18 counties affected by the flooding , including Llano County.

"Canelo is the highest-paid athlete in the world".

'I think in that first fight, experience beat me as I was very young.

"I always want to take on challenges, and I am very happy my fans will be able to see me fight for a small cost". But the offer by DAZN was too good to pass up.

"I've always liked a challenge, and this is yet another challenger in my career", Alvarez said in a statement.

ESPN reported that Alvarez's fights on DAZN would not be shown on pay-per-view. He said Alvarez's last three fights generated 3.6 million buys and almost a quarter of a billion dollars, making him someone who can be transformative to a subscription service focused largely - at least for now - on combat sports.

Alvarez and Britain's Fielding will hold a news conference in NY on Wednesday to promote their fight at Madison Square Garden. "Forget about what the price is, the amount of money that we're making".
