Google Maps update brings real-time ETA

This is been available on Android for a while now, but as of today - you'll be able to let friends, family and colleagues when you're showing up.

To share your trip progress, tap the up arrow (^) in Maps while navigating.

Google Maps is one of the mainstays of Google's stable of apps and services and certainly one of the best performing and most updated.

Google released its "share your real-time location" feature for the Google Maps iOS app on Thursday.

Journey sharing is rolling out for driving, walking, and cycling navigation on Android and iOS for those of you in "mixed" households.

That feature, Google announced today, has now been added to the iOS version. You can also stop sharing manually as well.

"To get it to work, you just need to hit the "^" icon, then select "Share trip progress". In an update headed out to users this week, you'll see an improved experience when sharing your location, ETA, and route.

Once your journey ends, you'll automatically stop sharing your location. In addition, Google Map users on both platforms can also share their ETAs with contacts via third-party applications like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Line.
