Manchester United supporters said the passion that Rooney is showing for the MLS side is exactly what's been missing at Old Trafford this season.

Mourinho managed Hazard at Chelsea during the Portuguese's second spell at the club, with the playmaker instrumental in the Blues' 2014-15 Premier League title triumph.

Paddington station: Evening rush hour disruption expected
Travellers at Paddington station have been hit by a major disruption this morning, with cancellations expected throughout the day. Trains to London's Heathrow Airport were among those affected, though by mid-afternoon a limited service had resumed.

When asked if he was glad of a build-up without speculation about his own future, Mourinho said: "I hope so".

Mourinho is even blaming one report claiming he would be sacked, win, lose or draw against the Magpies, on United's first half performance that saw them go 2-0 down before half time.

"I would love to have him in Manchester United but I don't think Chelsea will sell him to Manchester United, so it's a not problem", Mourinho added.

The Belgian has once again been the star player in the league over the first two months of the season, and United head to Stamford Bridge with their opponents locked together with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table. Chelsea now sits second in the standings with 20 points after eight games, while Manchester United languishes in eighth place with 13 points from eight games. Alexis Sanchez is named on the bench.

However, Rooney said it was always clear that no player would be allowed to believe they were bigger than the team. "But we actually weren't", the 32-year-old continued.
