The pre-order and arrival dates of the first wave coincide with the third wave of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max arrivals in over 30 countries and territories, including Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The new iPhone XR is up for pre-order this Friday 19 October but it may sell out fast if rumours are accurate.

Pricing aside, the Apple iPhone XR gives up the one important feature that has now become a hallmark of every modern flagship smartphone - the AMOLED display. The Apple iPhone XR can also be pre-booked from Apple's retail partners Imagine store.

Apple announced the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR in September.

'It's a bigger display than the iPhone 8 Plus, in a smaller case, ' Apple's VP of marketing, Phil Schiller said during the event last month.

Google Maps update brings real-time ETA
In an update headed out to users this week, you'll see an improved experience when sharing your location, ETA, and route. Google released its "share your real-time location" feature for the Google Maps iOS app on Thursday.

The aluminium handset is available in white, blue, black, coral, and yellow, along with a special Product Red version. Unlike the two XS models, the iPhone XR features a single rear camera, Haptic Touch (rather than 3D Touch), LTE Advanced, an aluminum frame, and an IP67 water-resistance rating.

With a starting price of $749 Dollars, the iPhone XR is the cheapest among the new iPhone trio.

The iPhone XR also has a slightly larger screen than the iPhone XS at 15.5cm, and has an LCD screen instead of the XS's OLED screen.

The iPhone XR boasts the same internals as the XS series, but comes with just a single-lens camera on the back. The phone is powered by Apple's latest six-core A12 Bionic SoC, coupled with a quad-core GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB of inbuilt storage.

For selfies, the iPhone XR sports a 7MP selfie camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with a TrueDepth camera for FaceID. New Depth Control allows users to adjust the depth of field both in real-time preview and post-capture to create portraits with a attractive bokeh effect.
