Flu vaccine in the form of nasal spray is not recommended for children of ages 2 to 4 years old who are suffering from asthma or wheezing, pregnant women and people who have weak immune system. The importance of knowing how to protect yourself and others is crucial as this year's flu, like in years past, can be fatal.

PLATTSBURGH | The first case of the flu this season was reported in Clinton County last week, and health officials are again imploring residents to get vaccinated.

While the virus has not broken out yet in the USA, several students and faculty have already fallen ill from the common cold. You have to wait at least two weeks before you start to get really protective antibodies. The good news is, these medicines are found to be most beneficial for people with chronic illnesses, the elderly and the very young.

According to the CDC, between 140,000 and 710,000 people have been hospitalized in the last eight years because of the flu.
