Blizzard announces 'massively multiplayer' Diablo Immortal for mobile

Diablo, Blizzard's longest running title, has just announced a move to mobile at Blizzcon.

Described as a "full-fledged action RPG you can play everywhere with everyone", It's now being developed in collaboration with NetEase.

As for how Diablo Immortal fits into the greater Diablo universe, the mobile game will take place in the years between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.

Blizzard is the home to some of the biggest game franchises of all time: Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, and more recently Overwatch. Blizzard closed out its BlizzCon conference with Diablo Immortal, an action-RPG for iOS and Android that promises "authentic Diablo gameplay at your fingertips".

A couple of days ago, a data miner on Reddit found several references inside the code of Diablo 3 on Switch that seemed to suggest new custom amiibo would be released for the game. Fragments of the corrupted Worldstone taint the land, bringing forth ancient evils who are looking to harvest the stone's power and use it to control humanity.
