Fuel price today: Petrol, diesel rate continue to dip in major cities

Petrol and diesel prices were cut for the fourteenth consecutive day on softening global oil prices, providing some relief to consumers battered by two months of relentless rate hikes.

"Petrol and diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs 78.99 (decrease by Rs 0.19) and Rs 73.53 per litre (decrease by Rs 0.11), respectively".

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, petrol and diesel are retailed at Rs 84.68 (decrease by 18 paise) and Rs 77.18 (decrease by 14 paise), respectively. While, petrol price decreased by 0.19 paisa in both the cities, the diesel price witnessed a fall of 0.11 paisa and 0.12 paisa in Delhi and Mumbai, respectively. "Oil prices are beyond the control of the Indian Government".

The revised price of a Lanka Auto Diesel (LAD) liter will be Rs. 118 and a liter of Lanka Petrol 92 will be Rs. 153.

Last month, the Central government had slashed the Excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 a litre and asked the oil firms to subsidise fuel by Re one per litre.

Williams also called on all retailers, including smaller independent fuel stations, as well as big supermarkets, to cut their petrol prices by 3p per litre, pointing out that a strengthening currency meant more reductions could be on their way. This came down to Rs 81.50 per litre for petrol and Rs 72.95 in case of diesel.
