'Game of Thrones' stars, network react to Trump's 'sanctions are coming' tweet

The Trump administration announced the re-implementation of harsh sanctions on Iran Friday, a result of President Trump's decision to leave the Iran nuclear agreement earlier this year.

Several actors in the series also responded, with Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, tweeting "Not today" and Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, writing "Ew".

Following President Trump's use of Game of Thrones' iconic font and "winter is coming" messaging in a new tweet, HBO has voiced strong disapproval for this use of its trademarked material. The Trumpadministration also announced Friday that it was exempting eight countries from the November 5 deadline for nations to cease importing Iranian goods or face financial penalties.

HBO did not waste much before hitting back at Trump for his impolite misuse of a brilliant piece of literature. The lettering on "Winter Is Coming" also borrowed from the fantasy series. Trump has chipped away at the deal since he announced an end to it in May. Dothraki happens to be a language spoken by a group of nomadic warriors. The biggest reveal about the Game of Thrones prequel series so far is probably its name: The Long Night.

With its majestic scale and scorched earth mayhem, Game of Thrones' season six epic Battle of the Bastards remains one of TV's most thrilling moments in recent years. Trump has said that he will reinstate them on Monday, hours before the midterm elections.
