You shouldn't be working for CNN, ' the president said to Acosta.

Wednesday's exchange was no exception but was starting in its vitriol.

"I want to challenge you on one of the statements that you made in the tail end of the campaign in the midterms", Acosta told Trump at a press conference following the midterm elections.

"Here we go", Trump complained.

Acosta pressed him on why he called the migrant caravan making its way from Central America to the USA border an invasion.

'I consider it an invasion.

"In Jim's defense, I've traveled with him, he's a hard-working, diligent reporter", Alexander told the president.

A White House aide tried to grab the microphone from Acosta, but the CNN reporter refused to give it up, infuriating the president.

Trump launched into a riff about Democrats supposedly being weak on crime and illegal immigration, and he took swipes at the accuracy of NBC's coverage when Alexander tried to get him to directly answer his question. 'That's enough. That's enough'. "That's enough. Put down the mic", Trump said.

"You are a rude awful person", he added.

"You're a very rude person, the way you treat Sarah Huckabee is frightful, and the way you treat other people are awful, you shouldn't treat people that way".

"There are some people who say the Republican Party is seen as supporting white nationalists because of your rhetoric", Alcindor said.

Mr. Acosta then refused to give up the microphone.
