Have Liverpool lost their bite in midfield at the moment?

Jürgen Klopp accused Liverpool of making life too easy for Red Star Belgrade and warned his players that they must raise their standards to avoid missing out on the Champions League knockout stage.

Liverpool have lost both away games in group C and next face Paris Saint-Germain - who drew 1-1 with Napoli last night and are third in the group, one point behind Liverpool - in France on November 28.

Jurgen Klopp will have made it crystal clear to his players that performances like the one produced against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night are simply unacceptable.

"I don't know how many chances, very good chances, we had tonight, but it felt like a lot.

That's what we have to admit".

Salah and Van Dijk then wasted late chances, as Red Star dug deep to open the door to Napoli or PSG in the hunt for first place. "They deserved it with the passion they showed".

Pavkov scored a first-half brace as Red Star stunned Liverpool 2-0 in Belgrade to claim their first win - qualifiers excluded - in Europe's premier club competition since 1992. Four points from their last two games would be enough to guarantee the Reds' progress to the last 16. It's still in our hands and if we win our next two games we go through, but it was a great opportunity missed for us.

Morning people 'less likely to develop breast cancer'
The findings have been published on researchers' website bioRxiv but have not yet gone through scientific peer review. They say women who tend to be "morning people" have about a 40 percent lower risk of breast cancer .

"We need to make sure it will not happen again, otherwise it will be hard because the next game is an away game again and the last one is a very hard home game against Napoli", added Klopp.

And Red Star doubled their lead just seven minutes later when Pavkov bagged his second with a superb strike from 25 yards out which Alisson may feel he could have done better with.

The prolific front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, who combined for 91 goals last season, have all suffered a downturn in form at different stages through the first three months of the campaign. The scoring boots were off for Liverpool in a game the team expected to win.

"The atmosphere, noise-wise, was not a problem for us, but after the second goal they could smell it".

There was to be no way back for Liverpool as the Red Star fans celebrated a famous victory.

"We have to make sure you can not ask that question again".

'We didn't start well enough, ' Milner said. They're probably the only ones this season that we haven't, for whatever reason.
