Dressed in white, the 25-year-old stayed on a "First Wives Club" theme as she and her dancers performed on stage, which resembled a wedding reception.

Grande appeared to have tears in her eyes elsewhere during the performance of what may well be her most personal song to date.

The God is a Woman hitmaker released her hit single No Tears Left To Cry earlier this year, serving as her first song since the Manchester Arena bombing at her concert in May 2017, which claimed the lives of 22 concertgoers.

"Oh, my god!" Grande shouted as she recovered from the fall, then nearly seamlessly continued performing.

The movie which has successfully minted 100 crores within two days of opening is getting a mixed reaction from the public. They claim that the film is depicting their party and the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a bad light.

As for the performance, it was definitely live as she almost took a faceplant trying to step down from a chair on the wedding reception-inspired set. While many initially assumed the outfits were a nod to Grande's would-have-been nuptials with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson, the look was actually a reference to a scene in the 1996 film, First Wives Club.

At the end of the performance, Grande, Parx and Monet all put on white winter coats before heading into the crowd and up the stairs, with DeGeneres later joking about Grande's quick exit. "For instance, in one message, she wrote, "'m so. f-kin. grateful". "Oh my God!" she said before continuing on.

"I thought we were supposed to exit", Grande says, apologizing for the mishap.

Ninety minutes after the song dropped, Davidson made his own statement during the "SNL's" Weekend Update segment, concluding his raucous guest spot by saying, "I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it's nobody's business".
