Governor Rick Scott to step down from elections board

No irregularities have been reported by either law enforcement or election observers from both parties who are watching the recount. They face a Thursday afternoon state-imposed deadline for finishing a machine recount of ballots for three races: senator, governor, and commissioner of agriculture.

"The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged", Mr Trump tweeted.

Since the recount began, President Donald Trump, who held rallies in Florida campaigning for Scott and DeSantis, has repeatedly claimed without evidence that Democrats are engaging in voter fraud to steal the election.

The Senate Democrats said Tuesday that neither Trump nor Scott were acting as honest brokers.

In the race for the governorship soon to be vacated by Scott, GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis leads his opponent, Democratic Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, by only 0.41 percent.

A worker holds ballots before a ballot recount in Lauderhill, Florida, on November 12, 2018. Is Florida really that screwed up? And it is those rules that have determined Nelson's shot is close enough to be taken seriously.

That ballot meant one more vote for Rick Scott in the USA race, Ron DeSantis for governor and Matt Caldwell in the commissioner of agriculture race.

For now, it's simple. The deadline for the results of the machine recount is Thursday. It's un-American. Attempts to bully, threaten and cajole officials into not counting every vote is a large and unsafe step away from the democracy we all cherish. Overall, 8 million votes were cast. Detzner's attorney's motion was filed at 2:37 p.m. Gievers' order was issued at 4:49 p.m. Some are already done, including Miami-Dade. The lawyers requested that the deputies be present when the ballots and voting machines are not being used and until the recount is over.

Ballots from overseas and military voters have until Friday to arrive to be counted.

Quicktake: Why are oil prices plunging?
In July, Trump called the organization a "monopoly", warning on Twitter that "gas prices are up & they are doing little to help". Oil prices hit its lowest point since December 2017 on Tuesday, following anticipated oversupply in the global crude oil market.

Once the recount is complete, if the differences in any of the races are 0.25 percentage points or less, a hand recount will be ordered. Others cross out one bubble and fill another.

The results will be presented to the state's canvassing board, for final approval - that's scheduled for next week, pending court action. Asked about those criticisms Tuesday, she hinted that she may not run for re-election in 2020. Typically, the board's approval is perfunctory.

Democratic-dominated Broward and Palm Beach, the state's second- and third-most populous counties, were both slow to complete their counts.

Rick Scott will step down from the state panel responsible for certifying the results in the state's highly contested elections. "The characters running Broward and Palm Beach voting will not be able to "find" enough votes, too much spotlight on them now!" the president tweeted earlier in the day.

Also valid: if a voter circles or underlines a name or places a check mark next to names on a ballot rather than following instructions so long as the ballot is consistently marked and the markings don't appear to indicate more than one choice in a race.

"And the Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes has a history of acting in bad faith".

Nelson's team has also sued the state of Florida, arguing that poll workers with "untrained opinions" should not have the authority to disqualify ballots based on "whether signatures match". Snipes acknowledged the error.

The county's decade-old ballot-counting machines overheated and gave incorrect totals, forcing the county to restart its recount of about 175,000 early votes, supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher said Tuesday night. If a county's recount in a race is incomplete, its pre-recount tally stands.

Broward and Palm Beach counties have come under legal pressure and scrutiny. Republicans have responded by contending that Democrats want to bend or skirt existing election laws to alter the outcome. Andersen said the voters were displaced by Hurricane Michael, telling a Panhandle television station that anyone who objects "ought to be ashamed".
