Meghan and Kate dubbed the 'new Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana'

Two portraits were released by Clarence House - the home of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker, to mark the former's 70th birthday on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, stars of stage and screen celebrated the British royal's birthday with a gala theatre performance in London.

Last week, a photo of Prince Charles with his youngest grandchild, Prince Louis, hit the internet, after Buckingham Palace posted a snapshot of the photo, before it appeared in the new BBC documentary on his life, called Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70.

They're surrounded by a beaming Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, newborn Louis, and parents-to-be, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Charles, who turns 70 today, is seen wearing a sharp blue pinstripe suit whilst sitting on the bench holding his eldest grandson Prince George on his knee, with the 5-year-old unable to hide his excitement.

While presenting at the Prince's Trust Awards in March, Charles quipped: 'I thought to myself some time ago, "Who's Cheryl Tweedy?"

Harry, The Duke of Sussex - who is now expecting his first child with Meghan Markle - received 77 percent of the public vote. Camilla pointing out something to Princess Charlotte and Prince George giggling with his mouth open.

In one photo, the family poses very properly, while they share a laugh in another. The photos were scheduled to be released on November 14 when he turns the milestone age, but they leaked early on November 13. "It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon!"
