Trump told Wallace that former President Barack Obama had offered him some important guidance in the White House shortly after his 2016 election.

"I don't think anybody's done more than me" for veterans, said Trump, adding that he gave himself an "A-plus" rating as president.

Wallace objected again, saying "But, sir leaders in authoritarian countries like Russia, China, Venezuela, now repress the media using your words".

President Trump sat down with "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace to discuss a wide range of pressing subjects, like the results of the midterm elections and the Mueller investigation.

President Donald Trump said that he plans to visit U.S. troops in war zones, a remark that comes after he received widespread criticism for not visiting an American burial ground outside Paris, France, earlier this month and Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day.

President Donald Trump said in an interview aired Sunday that he was busy with phone calls and "affairs of state", but probably made a mistake in skipping the solemn wreath-laying ceremony on Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery.

"No president has liked his press coverage", Wallace pointed out, citing President John F. Kennedy's cancellation of White House subscriptions to the New York Herald-Tribune over his own frustrations. "I really believe he's going to do what's right", Trump said.

"Look at Florida", Trump said.

"I think North Korea's been very tough because you know we were very close".

"I can't talk for other people, I can only talk for me", Trump replied. "I was extremely busy on calls for the country, we did a lot of calling, as you know". They would have taken that election away from him.

"Well, I think you will see that happen". "But at the same time we do have an ally and I want to stick with an ally that in many ways has been very good".

Trump said, as he as before, that he was referring specifically to news that is "fake" and not the media in general.
