CNN's NY offices given all-clear after bomb threat

Fire alarm bells rang out through the building announcing it was being evacuated.

Host Don Lemon tweeted that staffers were evacuated from the premises during his live program.

Lemon said he was in the middle of preparations for his show when the order to evacuate was issued.

"Employees have been evacuated and the NYPD is investigating", they added.

TV station WNBC reported, citing a police official, that the caller claimed there were five bombs in the Time Warner building but did not substantiate that threat.

It didn't take long for some people to link the bomb threat to US President Donald Trump and his war of words with mainstream media.

"Right now CNN is airing taped programming due to the disruption".

"It's kind of a repeat situation of what we went through in October", Lemon said on CNN.

Bomb squads were put on standby in case any devices were found, police said. It is unclear whether the threat was directed at CNN or another location close by.

On Thursday night shortly after 10 p.m. Trump tweeted "FAKE NEWS - THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!" They evacuated the studios out of caution. Sayoc, who was tracked down to Florida and arrested on October 26, faces life in prison for sending at least 16 mail bombs in total.
