Awards season is soon to be on the horizon, and now that nominations for the 61st annual Grammy Awards have finally arrived, the industry is about to be flooded with non-stop campaigning. Monáe, herself snagged an Album Of The Year nomination for her most recent project, Dirty Computer.

Then in June, it announced an expansion from five to eight of the 2019 nominee fields for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. While the duo did secure three nominations including, Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best R&B Performance, and Best Music Video for "APESHIT", folks are big mad that they were not nominated in some of the major categories, specifically Album Of The Year.

Kendrick Lamar's eight nominations are in the categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance ("King's Dead"), plus two for Best Rap Song ("King's Dead" and Jay Rock collab "WIN"), plus Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media ("All the Stars" with SZA from Black Panther). She will go up against fellow nominees Cardi B and Janelle Monae in the Album of the Year category.

One of the nominees is Greta Van Fleet, whose debut album, "Anthem of the Peaceful Army", was released too late for Grammy consideration, though the MI band had played festivals - including Lollapalooza in Grant Park - on the back of a pair of 2017 EP's and a major-label marketing push.

Six of the eight 2019 nominees for Best New Artist are women. That's because her two Grammy nods a year ago disqualify her from a best new artist award.

The pair's 201-run partnership for the fourth wicket ended when Azhar became off-spinner Somerville's first Test victim. He and Nicholls, closing on his third test century, scored 87 in the second session and 73 in the last session.

The rest of the best new artist nominees included Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, H.E.R, Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha and Jorja Smith. She has five nominations in total, a number matched only by Lady Gaga and six-time nominee Brandi Carlisle. Kanye West and Taylor Swift received just one nomination each in the Best Producer and Best Pop Vocal Album categories, respectively.

Cardi's nods include Album of the Year, and Record of the Year for "I Like It Like That".

Buddy Guy was nominated for best traditional blues album for "The Blues Is Alive and Well".
