John Kelly Expected To Resign, Not Speaking To Trump

The rocky relationship between Trump and Kelly, 68, a retired Marine Corps general, has been widely reported. Potential replacements include Nick Ayers, Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, who is still seen as a leading contender.

Kelly "responded to a narrow set of questions" in recent months related to potential obstruction of justice, the TV network said, citing three sources.

The retired four-star general and former Homeland Security director tried to bring order to the White House, but he and the president are said to have grown tired of one other in recent weeks.

The New York Times reported on Friday: "Mr Kelly and Mr Trump have grown tired of each other".

Kelly is the latest high-ranking White House official known to have given information for Mueller's probe.

This is is far from the first time Kelly has been rumoured to be on the brink.

"She's very talented, very smart, very quick, and I think she's going to be respected by all", Trump said.
