It's not 100% clear who's publishing the new game but it seem to be Nintendo themselves, which implies they must've had some interesting conversations with Marvel.

One of the big rumours before The Game Awards started is that this was when Square Enix would finally reveal their long in-development Avengers game, especially as the Russo brothers, directors of Avengers: Infinity War, were known to be in attendance. Assemble your ultimate team of Marvel Super Heroes from a huge cast including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, and more!

The new game features the same kind of action-RPG gameplay that made the franchise such a hit over a decade ago.

As you'd expect from a Marvel property in 2018, the game includes Avengers characters like Iron Man and Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy members Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon, and Wolverine, who at this point has been on almost every superhero team. Team up with friends to prevent galactic devastation at the hands of the mad cosmic tyrant Thanos and his ruthless warmasters, The Black Order. With another pair of Joy-Con (sold separately), four players can team up on one system.
