"Now in terms of formulating policy, I suspect that she is not going to play the role that Nikki Haley did as ambassador to the United Nations", Schaefer said. She hadn't specialized in foreign policy or global relations.

Ms Nauert, who became State Department spokeswoman under former secretary Rex Tillerson, did not respond to requests for comment.

CNN, while citing her "precipitous rise" since arriving at the state department, also speculates how the Democrats are likely to "grill Nauert" on her qualifications for the position.

Mr Trump has previously said Ms Nauert was under serious consideration to replace Nikki Haley, who announced in October that she would step down at the end of this year.

Nauert is to replace Nikki Haley, the former SC governor who announced in October that she would step down as ambassador at the end of this year.

Trump frequently tweets quotes from Fox News personalities and programs, knowing how popular the conservative-leaning network.

The television-loving president has chosen a series of Fox personalities for high-level posts and consultation.

Ms Nauert worked for Fox News from 1998 to 2005 and, after two years away during which she worked for ABC, she returned to Fox in 2007, later becoming a presenter for Fox & Friends. She is a graduate of the Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and Mount Vernon College in Washington. Fox News executive Bill Shine was made a top communications adviser and John Bolton, also a contributor to the channel, is the White House national security adviser.

Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer rumored to release this weekend
This comes after a separate report said that the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer will be unveiled on December 8.

Under Tillerson, Nauert grew frustrated at not having close access to her immediate boss and had been seen as quitting to return to NY, where her family has remained.

During Nauert's tenure at the state department, press briefings went from being daily events to being held once or twice weekly.

"When you talk about Germany, we have a very strong relationship with the government of Germany", Nauert said, adding: "Tomorrow is the anniversary of the D-day invasion".

The contrast between Haley and Nauert's respective credentials and diplomatic experience couldn't be more stark. And that's the point: Trump values how his messages and policy decisions are explained by his subordinates, and has said his instincts and intellect are better than most. The more treaties we sign, the safer we supposedly are.

She will also have to deal with issues such as North Korea's nuclear program, Yemen's starvation as well as back US's effort's to contain Iran's influence over West Asia.

"I think Heather Nauert is smart".

Haley has had the task of promoting Trump´s "America First" agenda as the United States pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, the Paris climate accord, the UN Human Rights Council and other agreements and institutions broadly supported by the 193 members of the United Nations. "She'll be ambassador to the United Nations", Trump told reporters at the White House early Friday.
