Liverpool drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Last 16

Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City have discovered their fate after the draw for the last-16 of the Champions League was conducted this morning.

Having made it to the final last season, Liverpool endured a mixed time of things in the group stages, losing all three away games.

All four English sides progressed from the group stage - but the Premier League teams can not meet until the quarter-final.

Last week's fine 2-0 win against Barcelona secured runners-up spot in the group and means the Academy lads will now face a two-legged play-off to make it into the last 16 of the competition.

Each last-16 pairing will see a group victor drawn against a runner-up.

Manchester United were handed a tough tie against French champions Paris St Germain.

The first-leg fixtures will be split over two midweek dates, on 12-13 February and 19-20 February, with the second legs played over 5-6 March and 12-13 March. Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs now have a challenge of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, or Real Madrid, all daunting prospects for the Lilywhites. Seeded teams will play at home in the second leg.

Manchester City is now bookies favourite to win this season's Champions League, while Liverpool is the second English favourite.

Elsewhere in Monday's draw, Atletico Madrid will take on Serie A leaders Juventus, Lyon play Barcelona, Roma face Porto while Dutch club Ajax are set to meet holders Real Madrid.
